Hong Kong Supports Halal Certification with New Funding Scheme

In an effort to establish Hong Kong as a leading halal-friendly destination, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has launched a subsidy program to support local businesses in obtaining halal certification.

The Hong Kong Restaurants Halal Certification Funding Scheme offers eligible restaurants, hotels, and food and beverage establishments a one-off subsidy covering up to 50% of their halal certification fees, with a maximum reimbursement of HKD 5,000 per outlet.

This initiative aims to encourage more businesses to become halal-certified, enhancing dining and hospitality options for the growing number of Muslim visitors and residents in Hong Kong.

Key Details & Eligibility

  • Application Period: Submit your subsidy request to the HKTB by January 31, 2026.
  • Certification Window: Your business must register with an approved halal certification body in Hong Kong between September 17, 2025, and December 31, 2026.
  • Required Documents: Prepare your Halal Certificate, fee receipt, Business Registration document, and other supporting materials for the application.
